What it is
Reticulum is a cryptography-based networking stack for building networks people can operate themselves, including over slow or unreliable connections. Reticulum Native brings that foundation to C, with a reusable library, a terminal client and interfaces for UDP, TCP and serial-connected radios.
Why it matters
The revolutionary possibility is communication infrastructure that communities can build and control themselves. A native C implementation opens another route to that goal: integrating the protocol into applications and adapting it to different platforms without requiring a Python runtime. It creates a path toward dedicated devices and embedded systems, extending where independent networking could live.
Built to connect
The public feature ledger records bidirectional tests against pinned upstream Python versions for direct LXMF messaging over UDP/TCP, including multi-segment messages. Platform and cryptography provider interfaces support ongoing embedded-port work.
Active development · Full upstream compatibility and physical hardware validation are still in progress.
